CVADD Announcements
Good morning,
The Department for Local Government, Cities and Special Districts Branch are hosting a training session on March 18, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and concluding around 9:30 a.m. This training will cover City Submissions to the Department for Local Government (DLG) and provide guidance on compliance requirements, deadlines, and best practices.
During this session, attendees will gain a clear understanding of what financial documents must be submitted to DLG, including audits, financial statements, and attestation engagements. We will cover compliance best practices, recent legislative updates, and the potential consequences of non-compliance, such as penalties or withholding of state funds. Participants will also receive helpful resources and guidance on navigating submission requirements, along with the opportunity to ask questions specific to their city’s situation.
Training Topics:
• Overview of required city financial submissions to DLG
• Annual and biennial audit requirements under KRS 91A.040
• Financial statement submission deadlines and exemptions
• Attestation engagement requirements for cities Revenues and Expenditures under $150,000 with no long-term debt
• Common compliance issues and how to avoid them
• Consequences of non-compliance, including penalties and funding withholdings
• Recent changes in reporting requirements
This training is designed to help city officials understand their reporting responsibilities and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
