IT/GIS Coordinator

The Cumberland Valley Area Development District (CVADD) is seeking a qualified, motivated, and self-starting individual for the professional position of IT/GIS Coordinator.  This individual will be responsible for coordinating the GIS Mapping and the IT system of the CVADD office in the eight-county region, and will work closely with cities, counties, and other entities.

Job qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Business Administration, Environmental Planning, or closely related field supplemented by three years of work experience in an associated area.

Job duties include:

  • Maintains GIS database for the district.
  • Prioritizes GIS request and assigns duties to technicians as may be needed.
  • Supervises GPS efforts.
  • Creates map products related to project implementation.
  • Creates and updates regional maps for various needs using ARC GIS or other making map making software applications.
  • Assist area agencies and local government agencies with GIS request.
  • Contact person for public mapping and GIS data request.
  • Provides GIS technical assistance to entities within the region and CVADD staff.
  • Participate in state and local meetings regarding GIS platforms, projects, and policies.
  • Convert GIS data and import/export to GIS platforms and applications being used.
  • Research existing data to make updates to the system.
  • Assist in purchasing of equipment needed to operate GIS/GPS software.
  • Collects GPS data for the region as may be required for program and project implementation.
  • Coordinates and assists with the computer use and maintenance of such equipment as well as the CVADD server.
  • Perform other duties as required.
